⚙️ Decide what the assets in your buildings are called, which data fields each kind carries and which inspections they belong in, so every technician inventories the same way.
You need the Admin or Owner role.
Add an asset type
Open Organization settings and click Asset types.
Click Add asset type. Enter a Name, unique in your organization, and pick a Category such as Ventilation, Electrical, Fire or Plumbing. Click Create.
The type opens in its detail card.
Admins can also create a type on the spot from an asset's Select a type for your asset field.
Give the type its data fields
In the detail card, under These data fields will be presented for all Assets of type …, click Add data field and Create new or Choose existing. Drag the fields into the order technicians fill them in. Every asset of the type carries them from then on. See Create a data field.
Link inspection types
In the table, the Linked inspection types column names the kinds of inspection the type belongs in. Edit it in place. An inspection of that kind can then take its tasks from the asset type. See Add the tasks.
Edit, find and delete
Edit the Name and Category in the table or in the detail card.
Show assets with this type on a row opens the Assets topic filtered on the type. The Usage column shows the count.
Delete on a row removes the type. It only works when no asset uses it: the dialog says how many do, and asks you to change their type first.
Export downloads the table as an Excel file.
Changing an asset's type keeps the values it already has. A value from a field the new type does not carry still shows on the asset.
If it doesn't work
Delete is grayed out
The type is in use, or it is one of the types Vyer provides, which cannot be edited or deleted. Change the assets' type first, or create your own type instead.
There is no Asset types page
Only Admins and Owners see Organization settings. See what each role can do.
