Tips from LEJE Fastigheter: how to map and photograph your installations

The number of photos per installation among Vyer users is growing steadily. Buildings that used to exist only in someone's memory are being mapped, photographed and documented, room by room, component by component.

We asked Dan Jonsson at LEJE Fastigheter what drives that work.

The answer was not about technology. It was about three very practical problems.

Why LEJE photographs everything

The first reason is remote management. When a component is photographed and placed correctly in the building, a technician can assess the situation before travelling out. Many site visits become unnecessary. The ones that do happen are better prepared.

The second is supplier communication. A clear photo of an installation removes the back-and-forth. The supplier sees exactly what needs to be done before they arrive.

The third is reducing dependency on individuals. When the knowledge lives in the system rather than in a person, the team can work together without anyone becoming a bottleneck.

Dan's four tips for photographing installations

One: a photo from a distance. Where is the component located and what does the surrounding area look like?

Two: a photo straight from the front. Make sure the display and any service labels are visible.

Three: a close-up of the label. Serial number, model and any other details that matter when ordering parts or booking service.

Four: an orientation drawing for the emergency services. Knowing where to go matters most when time is short.

The more complex the installation, the more photos are needed. For simpler components like smoke detectors, one close-up and one contextual photo is enough.

The result

A building that can be managed from a distance. A team that does not need to call each other to find out where something is. A portfolio that does not depend on any single person knowing the answers.
