How technology companies collaborate on integrations focusing on the needs of property owners

In recent years, several proptech companies have emerged with the ambition of helping property owners transition from analogue to digital working methods to save time, money, and the environment. Now many property owners aim to establish an ecosystem of various services that complement each other, a reality achieved through system integrations. One example of this is the collaboration between Vyer and DeDU, which enables error reporting in interactive maps.

To manage and maintain a building sustainably, information must flow through the organization. The growing proptech market offers a variety of solutions for digitizing property information and communication.

"As a property owner, there are more options available today; one can customize their own toolkit when platforms communicate with each other in ways they did not before," says Lennart Liberg, software developer and API manager at Vyer Technologies, which develops technology to 3D-map buildings from the inside.

Among others, Vyer has worked together with WSP, which develops DeDU, a well-known program for technical management, and has developed a solution that allows the systems to read in and out data from each other to enhance the user experience for mutual clients.

"A prerequisite for property organizations to be able to work in many systems regularly without it becoming too time-consuming is that these are integrated with each other to the extent that they overlap. Then, employees only need to add and update data in one place for it to become available in multiple places," explains Lennart.

Collaboration between DeDU and Vyer – error reporting in interactive maps

"I believe that digital twins and proptech collaborations are parts of the natural evolution. No single system does everything best, but customers should be able to easily pick the best pieces from each system to meet their management needs," says Robert Wåhlin at WSP.

The integration that the companies have developed allows errors to be reported into DeDU using Vyer's interactive maps. This means that the operations technician who is to carry out the task has access to valuable site information that makes it easier to find the way. It also enables management staff to work preventively and make better purchasing decisions based on statistics about which types of equipment are often reported as faulty.

"I have previously worked as an operations manager and operations technician, and the biggest concern one has is finding documentation and the right information. By integrating a drawing management system into your case management system, you save many hours," argues Robert.

Creates new values for property owners through data integration

Most property owners today have a range of systems from different providers. Therefore, an important part of the digitization work is to determine which system should be used for what, as well as to create connections between them.

"API integrations are easy to make when working towards the same goal. The collaboration with WSP has been very smooth. It has been fun to come up with solutions for how an integration should work together with their developers," says Lennart.

When proptech companies focus on developing technology within various niches and then collaborate to store, maintain, and share information, new values are created for customers. Initially, it is about identifying what should be master data, where the main points are and how they should be connected.

"See the opportunities, be realistic, and start small. Identify what provides business value, think of the end user, and incorporate data that simplifies management," recommends Lennart.
