The proptech company Vyer is one of eight chosen Swedish growth companies that will receive an introduction to the American real estate market through the accelerator program Skyline. The program is organized by the Swedish Energy Agency in collaboration with the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in New York (SACCNY) and Build Edison.
The Skyline program was launched to accelerate the green transition in New York through international collaboration. The initiative gives Swedish companies with solutions that can contribute to resource and energy-efficient buildings the chance to enter the American market.
Through the program, participating companies gain knowledge and support, as well as opportunities to network with key players in both the Swedish and American real estate sectors.
The proptech company Vyer is one of eight Swedish companies that have now been accepted into the second edition of the program, which runs from June to November 2024.
"It feels incredibly exciting to have the opportunity to participate. SACCNY and the Energy Agency have put together a packed agenda with workshops and opportunities to meet several international real estate companies in New York, learn more about their challenges, and showcase how our solutions help Swedish real estate companies," says Nils Berglund, CEO of Vyer.
The buildings in New York City currently account for over 70 percent of the city's CO2 emissions. During the Biden administration, the USA has set several goals to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) as well as local climate laws have opened up the possibility to create a greener and more energy-efficient infrastructure, and contributed to an increased interest in skills and innovation within the real estate sector.
"More property owners want to quickly adopt new and scalable technologies to optimize operations. It is exciting to see how statutory climate goals drive the digitization of the real estate industry," says Nils Berglund, CEO of Vyer.
